Making bowls for the Food Bank of Lincoln’s Empty Bowl Luncheon
Kathleen and Pottery Class Pet, Jilly

Our
Story

Down Under Pottery began its journey in 1997, rooted in a love for creativity, community, and clay. At the heart of our studio is Kathleen, a passionate artist and educator whose dedication has shaped our space into a welcoming hub for learning and artistic expression.

With a bachelor’s degree in Art and Psychology and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing, Kathleen brings over 40 years of teaching experience to the studio. She has taught students of all ages and skill levels, always with a focus on encouragement, exploration, and hands-on learning. Her one-on-one instruction style helps students feel confident and inspired as they discover the joy of pottery.

Beyond the studio walls, Kathleen and Down Under Pottery are deeply committed to the Lincoln community. For over 20 years, we’ve proudly served as the official bowl sponsor for the Food Bank of Lincoln’s Empty Bowl Luncheon, helping raise awareness and support for hunger relief. We also contribute to a variety of local charities, believing that art and service go hand in hand.

Whether you're joining us for a 6-week pottery wheel class, browsing our handmade ceramic gallery, or simply stopping by to say hello to our friendly studio dogs, Jilly and Pete, we’re glad you’re here.

Take a look around, and feel free to give us a call with any questions or to learn more about upcoming classes. We’d love to create with you.
